Re: Whats eating Refined Vices?

When I win the lottery, you may depend upon me to come here and post all my rare whisky acquisitions :P In the meantime, I'm doing a Master of Finance and planning a wedding, so rather busy atm ;) From my experience on other fora, things that generate/maintain traffic include new developments in the...

I'm Amarantha  But I don't have an avatar there. They were afraid Scott Adams might sue them if they let me keep it, and I haven't thought of a better one yet. I tend to mostly lurk, though. I post a bit in the Australia forum, and somewhat less frequently in the beer/cocktail fora, and very o...

Re: Drinks for the summer

Count, the Havana Club AƱejo Blanco (or the 3 years) is the rums to use for a Mojito rather than plantation Jamaica..in my opinion.. Oh, good :) I got that one at my local because it's what they had, and seemed affordable enough, but I'd meant to do some searching and see if there was something mor...

Re: The Beard Thread

Despite being of the female persuasion, I've always thought I'd look rather dashing with a beard, and resolved to grow one if ever I found I was able. Needless to say, my fiance is terribly glad that I remain unable  I am rather lazy about shaving, I must confess, but it doesn't seem to aff...

Re: Wild Turkey Rye

That's what I use for Manhattans and Old-Fashioneds; I recommend it, at least for mixing. Can't comment for sipping, as I tend to stick to single-malt-scotch or the occasional brandy for that. I got my rye at Nick's Wine Merchants in Doncaster. From what I've read, there are probably better ryes in ...

If anyone manages to find Pyrat XO in Australia (or concludes that the Planters Gold is indeed better), please let me know. sheol (my fiance and a lurker here at RV {omg he's right behind you!!!}) loved the stuff when he tried it at a bar last year.

Thanks muchly :)

Solved! "Mark forums read" in Classic?

Good morning, sir. Might I inquire as to whether there is an option on the Index Page to "Mark Forums Read", whilst using the Classic skin? I may be all alone in the Brown Room, but I find it more comfortable here than in the Gold Room. Thank you kindly :)

Re: Macallan sells for $54,000

Seriously though, what's the oldest single Malt you've tasted? I paid a serious amount at a whisky bar for a dram of 1939 Macallan once, and I've found some whisky's almost as good, but this did go to show me that you can taste the difference in price in whisky's a lot easier than you can with wine...

It's rather tragic to know that the best whisky one has ever met, one will never meet again. But it shan't stop me from doing this to myse...
