Re: Drinks by the Dram
I have tried the Tyrconnell & the Miyagikyou thus far. Should be able to try the Connemara this weekend. Tyrconnell: Definitely noticeable port flavour and not much if any whisky feeling to it. It doesn't have the crispiness that whiskys normally do. Any flavours last as long as the drink does. Not ...

Re: Drinks by the Dram
I have just received a small order of these (Connemara Peated Cask Strength, Tyrconnell 10 Year Old Port Finish & Miyagikyou 15 Year Old). Most impressed with the price, speed of delivery and the secure packaging. Of the content, I shall give these a good go and let you all know my impressions. I am...

Cuban cigar tsar on a roll
ABC Australia News "A Cuban cigar roller has begun rolling a 70-metre cigar in an attempt to nearly double his previous Guinness world record, a spokesman said. Working eight hours a day for nine days, 67-year-old Jose 'Cueto' Castelar is hoping to break his 2009 record of a 43.38m long stogie. He ...

Re: Show off your rum collection
You'll have to wait a bit for my photo (which will still bit a tad smallish). I have just ordered a pair of Havana Club Anejo Especials and a pair of HC 7yo's. When that appears, I'll put everything together and photograph it. edit: just received my order. Only had 1 7yo in it because thats all the ...

Re: Johnny Walker explained
had the second sample with one iceblock Ice in a malt whisky? Well, even in a blended malt it really shouldn't be done. A splash of water is all you should add to a Malt Whisky as it helps to 'unlock' some of the more complex flavours. Fair enough. I am not so experienced at this level. I am at thi...

Re: Johnny Walker explained
I have had two samples (both about full measures). First I had it pure, then (after waiting a bit) had the second sample with one iceblock, after waiting a minute or two. From that tasting I enjoyed the first more, perhaps because I had already had some drinks earlier in the day. The ice didn't help...

Review: Bruichladdich 1998 Oloroso & Manzanilla
http://i240.photobucket.com/albums/ff2/alfalf_photo/Whisky/23934671.jpg?t=1219933844 Inspired by this item (and my already owning a Bruichladdich 10 yo Whisky), I invested in the 1998 Oloroso and Manzanilla pairing (separate bottles, same order, delivered together). The various photographs I took a...

darkwood interior, fireplace, comfortable chairs and soft lighting. Bookcases stocked with only classics, there will be no Dean Koontz. Music, nothing post 1959, and never played too loud. Bourbon, Scotch, Rum, Wine and Vodka. This establishment would be geared more towards the Whiskey/Whisky drink...
