Re: A new tasting

My apologies for not gettting back to you sooner Count. I used to mix my rum with Sprite Zero. But now I sitched to Sierra Mist Natural. The flavors from this rum reminds me a lot of Zaya or Ron Zacapa but without the heavy price tag! I got a bottle of Shipwreck on sale for $16.99!! It has definitel...

A new tasting

Last night my wife bought me a bottle of rum that I never tried. It was "Brinley Gold Shipwreck Spiced Rum". I was pleasantly surprised by the flavor for a 4yr old rum. It was one of the few I was able to sip straight. But, I couldn't resist mixing it and enjoying it the way I like. It received two ...

Re: Cañazo

Well, I think it's near impossible to get 50% ABV by fermenting alone. There has to be distilling in the process. I will have to ask our warehouse manager if he ever heard of Canzo. His homeland is Peru. The last time he went home to visit his family he picked up several bottles of rum for me that w...

Re: Which Rum should I to try next?

Sorry guys for not visiting for awhile. I was on the wagon most of the summer. I wanted to take a break from the spirits before the spirits broke me! Capn Jimbo. Is your eBook available for dloading? I would definitely like to give it a read. Ricky. Welcome to the forum! Until you gain thi...

My latest tasting

Wow. One thing I don't like about this message posting is the first button that's usually the submit button on most other forums is the save button here. I clicked that without really looking and got a message about saving a draft. I click my back button and my whole review on my latest rum is gone....

Re: Help needed with Dominican Republic Rums

Here's something wild I just found out about Ron Atlantico. The bottle and cork are made in Horsham, Pennsylvania (about 45min away from my house) but, we can't get this rum here!! Crazy!!!

Re: Help needed with Dominican Republic Rums

Very nice explaination Capn Jimbo. How about some names of rums that are non-tweaked/unaltered/unmolested?

Re: Help needed with Dominican Republic Rums

Thx for the info guys!! I really appreciate it. Capn Jimbo. What is tweaked and altered rum? It sounds like something you folks look down upon. If so, I mostly certainly don't want to be lumped into that stereotype. I think I have a pretty good diversity with rums and so far I liked every rum I trie...

Re: Help needed with Dominican Republic Rums

Again, thx for the info Captain J!! I actually didn't know that about the five style of rum. Ive done a lot of reading about rum but the only differences I read about was the color and base product (cane juice or molasses). Do you have any more info on those styles of rums? Is there anything on this...

Re: Help needed with Dominican Republic Rums

Thx Captain!! I appreciate the suggestions! Musty wasn't the word. I would describe the finish of the Brugal as moldy and/or mildewy. My palette found it offensive. I guess I do tend to gravitate towards the sweeter rums. But, Im open to try any and all rums that cross my path. I will say I don't li...

Help needed with Dominican Republic Rums

A friend of mine is going to the Dominican Republic in a month (lucky her). She knows I love rum and always tries to score me a unique bottle or two that's exclusive to the area (island). So far I have Atlantico on my list. Does anybody have any other suggestions to add to my list? Brugal is definit...

Re: Rum From Seven Fathoms Deep

I will agree with that statement Count. The Peruvian rum I tried (Cartavio and Ron Pomalca) were young rums and they exhibited depth and flavors much like some older rums I've tasted. I was very impressed with the Peruvian selction. The only problem with my rum collection it doesn't last very long :...

Re: Rum From Seven Fathoms Deep

Hi Count Silvio!! Thx for the welcome. I've visited your site for quite some time because of your rum reviews. Great reviews by the way! http://serve.mysmiley.net/happy/happy0034.gif Today I noticed you have a forum and I decided to join. The show was on HDNet and it was called "Into the Drink". It ...

Re: Rum From Seven Fathoms Deep

I noticed this thread is approx 4yrs old. I just saw a scuba diving TV show that featured this rum and how they age it in the sea. Has anyone tried it yet? If so, could you post your review?

Re: Ron Zacapa 23 as a benchmark

Hi Everyone!! This is my first post on this forum. Im glad to be a part of this community. I'm fairly new to rum tasting. I started sampling fine rums approx 2yrs ago. We do not get very many good rums in Pennsylvania (at least where Im located) so when I see a bottle that's on my "must try list" I ...
