Sunlight and Whisky

Greetings. I recently moved my small collection out of the cupboard and onto a shelf in my living room. However, I noticed that, at various points during the day, the sun directly hits the bottles. Now some of them are still in their cylinders, but a few aren't. I was wondering if direct sunlight co...

Why thank you old bean! I appreciate the sentiments and will of course imbibe some libations this evening, and will raise my glass with your well-wishes in mind. :tippin:

Re: Your dream bar

Tough call really. The obvious would be that there be an extensive and varied alcohol selection, preferably heavy on the whiskys, but I would also like a good beer menu as well. As far as decor, I like dark woods and good lighting. The booze bottles should be the main decor for the bar area (which w...

I was in a hotel down in southern Germany last week and was able to sample some Woodford Reserve. It was very tasty with a nice sweetness and a good finish. I think I may pick up a bottle sometime soon. :panama:

New additions

Greetings all, I have recently purchased a few new bottles for my small collection. I was however remiss in not informing the good folk of this forum of these purchases. A week ago, while out purchasing a bottle of Highland Park for a coworker, I also purchased a bottle Bowmore 10 year. It is quite ...

Highland Park

Today, I was out purchasing food for tonight's festivities when I stumbled upon a decent selection of whisky at the grocery store! Never to let good fortune pass me by, I decided to purchase a nice bottle of Highland Park 12 year, which I had sampled a few months ago at the local pub. I will open it...

Hennessey

I recently purchased (or rather my mother purchased for me) a bottle of Hennessey Very Special cognac. This is my first foray into cognac and I am wondering if anyone can offer advice on how to best enjoy this fine drink.

To give more range I've considered: Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum awards. Platinum given only to the most exquisite of rums. Although I'm not sure if I should have one more lower category as some products don't deserve even bronze. if it is poor, why not just have a "No Reward Given" instead of...

How about Dueling Pistols (members can partake in a bit of flaming and trolling). And some place where we can get crass. I have a bottle of each on my shelves. The single barrel varies a fair bit from bottle to bottle since they are not blended to create consistency. The whole concept is something of a marketing ploy to play on the word "single" to draw on those that might normally choose a single malt. While single ...
