Rum Nation 14 year - Demerara Solaro

Just went to the local licour store the other day. Spend around 300 danish money ($60) on a nice bottle of Rum Nation 14 years from Britisk Guyana. Got it home safe and tried it later in the evening in a large ballon shaped glass. The first sip I got a sharp spirit notice, followed by a gentle and s...

The right glass?

Hi.

I've been through all of my glasses in the house and found two which I think would be appropriate for tasting and enjoying rum.
Which one is the best in ur oppinion?

Thank you!

Re: Which Rum should I to try next?

No. But more to the point: what are the rums you selected to represent each style, and to understand them? How have you approached learning to appreciate rum? What kind of glass do you use, and how do you approach a tasting? Do you compare a new rum against your reference rums in each style? Thats ...

Re: Which Rum should I to try next?

Ricky, your question is one most new rum drinkers face. The biggest mistake you can make is to simply start asking people what rum should I try next, and the next few years of your life will then be driven by trying a bunch of unrelated rums, many of which are really quite inferior, and after all i...

Taste more flavours

I've been in the coffee business before and when tasting coffee you want to experience as many flavours from the brewed coffee as possible in the mouth. I assume the same goes for Rum as well. One of the judges of the barista world championship told me a great technic; To actaully chew the liquid (c...

Re: Which Rum should I to try next?

Thank you for the reply

I assume the 5y old rum is a bit lighter in the taste than the older once?

Ive been suggested to try "Ron Matusalem Gran Reserva - 15 years"!?
Any thoughts on that one?

Which Rum should I to try next?

Hi all I'm just discovered the world of Rum. I never really liked Whiskey, but I friend offered me a glass of 12y old Eldorado and I was sold. Now which Rum would you suggest me to try next? I tried Bacradi's 8y old version and I find it tasty. Not close to Eldorado, but nice. Thank you! Ricky
