Re: MaCAllan sells for $54,000

Oldest single malt, hmm... It was a Laphroaig but I cannot recall which one and how old it was. Ted Maul can probably remind me what it was as he owns the said product. I'm afraid my single malt experiences are very limited. I have been concentrating on the more affordable rum recently.

Macallan sells for $54,000

Read the entire article on the frontpage. Rare spirits went for record high prices at Christie's New York auction house on Saturday with one bottle of 1926 Macallan Scotch selling for $54,000. It became the most expensive bottle of Scotch whiskey ever sold by the auction house, said Christie's, whi...

Re: Forum updates!

I wont be able to recreate the old template for now because it wont work with this version of phpbb3. I installed it and tried it out and I could not access the admin control panel anymore. I will have to wait for an update for the template.

Ahh, I see you got your account working again Paul! :poppin:

Lord Neville, I would first try it from a cognac glass and then mixing with cola as suggested.

Re: Forum updates!

The quick reply can be arranged and you should be seeing some subforums you wanted pretty soon. First things first though. I need to sort this e-mail tomfoolery and recreate the old template. I will be keeping this template as an option as well and will probably create changes to it that will make i...

Re: Forum updates!

Problems with the activation e-mails persist so I will have to activate all new accounts manually till I get this thing fixed. The board will not send any PM notifications either.

Welcome to Refined Vices, Baron. I rarely use any ice in my drinks although I might on some occasions use a cube or two. Atleast in whiskey and coke. In my opinion the flavour is the best in whiskey and rum when it is room temperature.

Thank you for the short review. I would find banana a very pleasant surprise in a rum. Many people have reported banana in those little heavier rums but I am yet to find any banana in my rums though.

We once swam accross the English Channel. If it looks like he will start to sink you just smack him in the buttocks with that rapier of yours and he will be ok.

Interesting aging method. I don't know much about ships but do the temperatures in cargobays usually change a lot? Or perhaps it is a wooden ship they use. Hmm, now theres an article idea... Different aging methods.

Ermm... You quote the wrong man dear AngelSword. Even if that quote was made by me it would be quite contradictory as I am the man responsible for the rum reviews on the frontpage. If you take a closer look you notice it is a quote from the article IslayBlog.com wrote. I love rum.

It is complicated. Both of them were priced very nicely at the place where I bought them (surprisingly neither are available here ). Price aside I like the taste of both but the Wild Turkey is more easily approachable and makes an excellent whiskey cola, not that I've tried the Evan Williams w...

Brugal Siglo de Oro

I know a bar that sells this rum for 11 euros a glass. I would like to know if this is worth the money and more importantly if anyone has any specific cigar recommendations for this rum. This rum is not available for purchase here but I think either Extra Viejo or Añejo might be which brings me to t...

Review: Evan Williams Single Barrel Vintage 1996

Read the full article on the frontpage. Evan Williams is bright brown with core highlights that are nearly red in this refined decanter. The cork is protected by a black rubber seal that goes all the way down to the end of the bottles bubbled neck. Markings on the front label clearly indicate the w...

Rum from the Islay

Frontpage article with source. Renegade Rum, that was the title of the mail from Bruichladdich I received yesterday. Rum? I thought Bruichladdich was a whisky distillery? What do they have to do with rum? Most people will associate Islay with the famous Islay Single Malt Whiskies, not rum. But it c...
