Re: Black Tot Rum - Last Consignment

This is an incredible rum, its just too bad for most of we can`t buy it. I was lucky enough to taste it at Tales of the Cocktail and i would summarize it as a rum with many and deep flavors and a very long finish. Would LOVE me a bottle!

Very old rums

Have anyone tried old rums? like from the 30s to the 50s? i just made a Mai Tai with JWray&Nephews old Dagger rum, thats Jamaican dark rum. It`s a bit fiery with dark tones of molasses and dried fruits, and spicy and woody. Very balanced and complex.I imagine that JWrays 17 year old rum must have ta...

Best Japanese whiskies?

I`m very fond of japanese whiskies, or at least those few i have tried. Right now i have Yamazaki 10 and the Yamazaki Hakushu single malt, Nikka Miyagikyou 10 and Nikka 10 single malt. The best Jap whisky i have tasted is so far Yamazakis 18 year old and then their Cherry Butt. So really, i have onl...

i just haven´t had the time yet.

I can believe that. i dont think that thing will be a trend either. What is a trend which i think will also stay is classic /vintage cocktails and fresh unspoiled ingrediets in both old and new cocktails.

Re: Show off your rum collection

The XM10 is very yummy, full bodied, round, with lots of toffee-like flavor. The XM12 Millenium lacks much of that toffee-like flavor and is less sweet, a bit lighter. I have written about these rums on my blog in demerara part one, and i post part two in a few days, it will cover XM10, 12, Samaroli ...

Samaroli Port Morant 1990 is very very good, Old Vatted is quite good although very woody, Port Royal 1991 is good, Silver Seal rums are exceptional and so is Banks XM10, but i do have a bit of a sweet tooth..

Yeah, i read that one, i think its well, quite not my thing, nah..when i drink my cocktails i dont want anyone to spray something scented around my head. Its ok to put on appropriate music but i think they overdo it in this article. I`m quite fascinated by Hestons molecular gastronomy though, its in...

Re: Italian deals..rum from Rome

I dont know how on earth i missed this post!

But i can certainly attest that the 15 year Silver Seal is one of the best rums i ever had.

It was so good that i couldnt stop making Mai Tais with it, until the bottle was finished 2 weeks later.

NICE Count! will go and get some chili today.. nice pics.

Chili is really nice with mint and as garnish very striking but as you said, a little goes a long way inside of the drink itself.

The orange flower extract in oil is not the same thing! so be VERY careful with the 0.5 drop here..or if a t all..i would use it my bath instead.

Orange flower water is a entirely different story. I can find it everywhere here, do you want me to send you a bottle?

I have now tasted it neat and my first thought actually was that this rum is best for mixing, but not with orange juice, maybe fresh lime, simple syrup and soda? i will play a little with it in the coming weekend.

You can never go wrong with Havana Club Blanco in a Mojito! ot the 3 anos which i like a lot as well. Another nice recipe that i have picked up from the MOR, http://www.ministryofrum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1638 and Hank is to make coconut water icecubes and also add Coconut water in your Mojito...

Count, the Havana Club Añejo Blanco (or the 3 years) is the rums to use for a Mojito rather than plantation Jamaica..in my opinion..

I LOVE mint!
