Ermm... You quote the wrong man dear AngelSword. Even if that quote was made by me it would be quite contradictory as I am the man responsible for the rum reviews on the frontpage. If you take a closer look you notice it is a quote from the article IslayBlog. com wrote. I love rum. My dear Count, I...

Re: Rum from the Islay
But it certainly made me curious, even though I don't drink rum. Sir, I must say that you seem to limiting your vices a bit too severely. ??? Don't drink rum??? Perhaps I misunderstand. Is that to say that just sip? Or perhaps guzzle? Or perhaps Rum is not your preferred spirit? That is quite under...

Double barrelling is a marvelous way for them to turn someone else's rum into their rum. And it does help produce a superior product. So much of the maturation process is related to the chemical interaction between alcohol and wood. By introducing more wood via another barrel, the flavor can be enha...

Fine tastings
I thought that it might be enjoyable to share with you some perusals of 3 fine American whiskeys. We will try Bernheim Original, Jefferson Reserve, and, Pappy Van Winkle's 20 Yr. Let's begin by understanding that these are my top 3 American (not counting Canadian) whiskies. I have no idea as to how ...

Of course my dear. But perhaps the course tone is related to the instructive nature of the comments. Whereas a coarse tone would certainly be abrasive in such genteel company.lady ermenegildo zegna wrote:it would be distasteful for one to comment on the course tone this gentleman is using in company.

Failure to do so would be a serious breach of honor... I'm beginning to think that his fez is bit yellow. Let us not confuse cowardice with lack of honor. I have known some very brave men who had no honor at all. And some very timid men who nonetheless have great honor. I have come to believe the 2...

Old Potrero is a superb rye! This is something new from the Anchor Steam Beer people in San Francisco. For bourbon, Buffalo Creek is great but may be too richly flavored for this recipe. I would look at Berheim Wheat Whiskey or Forty Creek Canadian for the subtleties that would do well in this cockt...

caol ila 18yr old has an excellent taste and fantastic as a tonic due to the location, you can really taste the sea. This type of flavor has more to with style than location, not that location does not also play a small part. Several of the Islay whiskies are the richest in phenols, about 40 ppm. T...

I find Glenfiddich 12 rather harsh and astringent, but properly serviceable for boys just barely old enough to drink and are learning about the world's vices ... or those such as yourself that might appreciate such.Fez Wearing Brigadier wrote:Glenfiddich.

One of my favorite light rums is Green Island, and should be available in the EU. We can't get it in the US. I picked up a taste for it while adventuring in Africa. My understanding is that the Starr Africa rum is the Green Island rum re-branded for the US market. Correct, but I haven't been able t...

Aloha! This is about as refined as I get. Laid back, comfortable, with a properly-made Mai Tai in an approved container. But my palate, I'm happy to say, is quite refined when it comes to rums. Well, let's just say that the rest of me is always pleased when something meets the palate's approval, so...

Lately I been exploring armagnacs. Tonight the snifter is filled with a delightful spirit, Larressingle VSOP from Gascony. This has wonderful floral notes upon first touching the tongue and a delicious deep woodsy linger.
