15 Steps to Setting Up a Gorgeous Bar

I found this news item 15 Steps to Setting Up a Gorgeous Bar while doing the rounds on the internet and was looking at the image and thinking, why yes that does look nice. I then started looking at the cost of things listed below the image, I was speechless. The total cost for their Gorgeous Bar wou...

Oliver & Oliver. A tour and tasting of Cuban tradition

Article courtesy of Pavol Kažimir, http://www.dominicanrums.com Everything started when i discovered the Vizcaya rum about a month ago. I contacted the company right away and asked if there is a possibility of visiting their rum facility. Nancy de Blanck, the sales and export manager of the company...

Re: Whisky review: Whisky review: Bruichladdich The Sixteens

Hmm, interesting observation. I do hate it when they make different bottlings for different markets. It could make buying by the review harder as reviews are universal and read by all nationalities. One would have to start making separate reviews then for different nations. I am just wondering how c...

My current holdings of rum is listed below. This is from my 31 January 2010 liquor inventory. I have since added a few more bottles but have also drained a few. These are cached around the house so getting a pick of them in one place would be hard but we can use out imagination.....! :hsugh: :hsugh...

Re: Will Venezuela go sour on whisky?

I know exactly what you're talking about as a lot of people in Finland view rum as a harsh uncultured drink, as some kind of vile moonshine. However, I've never encountered anyone who would order something to make the table "look right" haha! What I like to do is to pour some fine rum into a Cognac ...

Re: Rum Review: Havana Club Anejo Blanco

Excellent tasting notes there MJL.

Havana Club Anejo Blanco is one of my staple rums as it makes EXCELLENT Mojitos. It has just the right amount of flavour to come through perfectly in the Mojito as well as other drinks. Hell, even the basic rum and coke tastes good with the Blanco.

Antarctic Whisky

EXPERTS believe they have uncovered a secret drinker on Sir Ernest Shackleton's polar expedition after opening a crate of whisky buried under Antarctic ice for 100 years. The whisky, bottled for the renowned British explorer's 1907 expedition, was excavated from beneath his Antarctic hut earlier th...

Re: Blackbeard's Reserve Rum 24,25,26 Year?

I am now completely sure this rum was never produced/bottled by the cayman islands based rum company that we now know as Blackbeard's Trading Company. Blackbeard's DEMERARA rum appears to have been sold out 10 years ago! It was also a single cask product, which might explain the different experience...

The more I think about it, I think this may have been a Private Label rum.

Current Blackbeard Rum Company website: http://www.blackbeards.ky/

Probably a different product.

Yes, it is a shame what happened to my server and even a bigger shame I had no recent backup copies, even though I'm sure I made one before I embarked on the journey to Australia. Hmm, Tiare's article only mentions the 12 year old being reformulated in 2006 or have I completely lost the plot? The 12 year old, used to be known as King of Diamonds , came in a tall bottle similar to the El Dorado Superior Demerara Dark rum sold over here. Unfortunately I can't find any European ...

I tasted some Barbancourt from the 1930s in Floridita with RumDood when we were in London. It had started to "disintegrate" as there were particles floating in the rum, Paul explained this to me at Floridita but I don't recall the exact explanation right now. This disintegration didn't affect the ta...
