What do you think specifically about Riedel glasses? I've heard they make quite a difference when tasting spirits but does any of you have any experience with these glasses? If so, what would you think is the most suitable glass for rum?

What about whisk(e)y? Has anyone tried the single malt glass or the bourbon glass? Any comparisons between a normal and a Riedel glass?

I like the looks of the whiskey glasses. I think that they would work best for rums. I missed the Riedel session at Tales of the Cocktail, but I heard it was fantastic, and that the spirits really did taste differently in the different glasses (although that could be the power of suggestion).

I heard second-hand that the best moment of the session was when George Riedel said that cognac glasses are the stupidest glasses ever conceived, and that the only reason they still make them is that they are their best seller.

The whiskey glasses that you can order from WHISKY magazine, and see/read about in Michael Jackson's legendary Single Malt Scotch guide, while I understand their purpose, I don't like the look of 'em. they look too fragile, delicate - and there very few things delicate about a glass of Whiskey. I prefer a nice rocks glass myself, sans rocks of course.
