When I was presented the opportunity to review a new kind of rum tasting glass from Spirit Sippers, I decided to not only review their Flare rum tasting glass but also compare it against other glasses I’ve previously used to taste rum from.
This was an interesting opportunity to me as I’ve never before had a glass designed specifically for rum and I was excited to see if the shape of the glass really affects the entire tasting experience. The experiment would have been even more interesting had I had some Riedel tasting glasses but since I didn’t, I had to work with what I had. In the end I was quite pleased with the results of the test which you can read below.

In being awarded a silver medal, Cayman’s only locally distilled rum scored 88 points, a score that indicates it is highly recommended by the Beverage Tasting Institute.
Drinks giant Diageo says its new Roseisle whisky distillery near Burghead, in Moray, is on target to be completed by late this year. The group plans to commission the £40million plant in January and be operating at full capacity by the spring. However, it will be a while before the public will be able to sample a blend containing Roseisle malt – the first whisky will not be available until 2012.
It was at the start of last year that Diageo revealed it wanted to build the new distillery to feed demand for Scotch whisky in fast-growing markets such as China. It will be Scotland’s first major new whisky distillery in 30 years.

Making moonshine has gone from a backwoods black art to a high-end hobby practiced by "whiskey geeks" with a taste for top-shelf hooch.
Unlike their bootlegging predecessors, who cooked up big batches of white lightning and distributed the illegal booze out of the backs of cars, today's moonshiners focus on quality rather than quantity.
