In pure Trinidadian style, Adelaide played host to bright evening of entertainment as Simon Sleep of Beach hot spot Palais swept the field to claim the title of State Champion after Monday night’s South Australian Final.
Close behind was Nittin Terari from The Stamford, who stands in contention to receive a wild card entry to the National Final. With encouraging industry morale flying high in Adelaide’s Bar Cuba @ The Union Hotel; the South Australian Finalists thoroughly entertained the keen onlookers, while producing some captivating creations to ensure the large crowd were thoroughly entertained by their presentations.
The adjudicators of the finals were island2island’s Steven Cipriani, ALM SA State Manager Paul Tisato and Tim Phillips, Manager of Cellarbrations Frewville.
The Angostura Cocktail Challenge asked the bartenders to prepare two creative drinks, the first a spin on an Australian classic – Lemon, Lime & Bitters and the second based on enhancing the flavours found in Angostura Rum and aromatic bitters, within a tight 6 minute window.
SA State Manager for island2island, Claude Scorsonelli stated, “The back drop of Bar Cuba at the Union hotel provided the perfect location with its intimate surroundings to replicate the Trinidadian feel, while providing the opportunity for local identities to mingle and try one of the world’s most awarded, Angostura rum range and enjoy a lively night of entertainment.”
Monday the 26th September will see the next of the five state finals, with Queensland on display.
